HOW WE MAKE IT

Quality & Manufacturing Process

High-grade materials, controlled hand-cast production, and independent laboratory testing — the process behind every CAPESTONE product.

RAW MATERIALS

Built on High-Grade Materials

CAPESTONE products are manufactured using high-grade raw materials, including selected aggregates, sand, and PPC cement, ensuring consistency, structural integrity, and long-term durability across all paving and tiling applications. Each product is hand-cast, allowing for controlled production and a natural stone-like finish, with inherent variation in colour and texture that reflects authentic material behaviour.

COLOUR & DURABILITY

Through-Body Colour, Not a Surface Coating

Colour is achieved through the incorporation of premium imported iron oxides, fully blended into the concrete mix rather than applied as a surface layer. This ensures through-body colour consistency, improved wear resistance, and reduced surface degradation over time.

FROM MIX TO FINISH

Controlled Production & Finishing

The manufacturing process follows standard concrete production principles, including batching, mixing, moulding, curing, and finishing, ensuring each unit achieves the required strength and durability performance. During production, strict process control is maintained to achieve uniform density and structural performance across batches.

NACRE FINISH

Ground, Polished, Revealed

For specialised finishes such as Nacre polished concrete, crushed abalone shell is incorporated into the mix. The surface then undergoes a mechanical grinding and polishing process using progressively finer abrasives, exposing the aggregate and shell inclusions while refining the surface to a dense, smooth finish. This process enhances both surface hardness and abrasion resistance, while revealing the material’s characteristic luminescence.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

Performance Testing & Quality Assurance

CAPESTONE products are subject to ongoing quality control and independent testing through PPC Cement laboratories, ensuring compliance with industry performance standards. Concrete testing methodologies include evaluation of the following key properties:

Compressive Strength

Structural capacity

Durability & Permeability

Resistance to weathering and moisture ingress

Density & Consistency

Uniformity of mix

Abrasion & Wear Resistance

Performance in traffic areas

These tests are conducted using industry-standard procedures and equipment, providing verified performance data and ensuring suitability for both residential and commercial applications.

PRODUCT STRENGTH

Verified Compressive Strength

7 Day and 28 Day Strength Tests refer to standard measurements of a concrete product’s compressive strength over time, expressed in megapascals (MPa).

33–35 MPa
7 DAY STRENGTH

Early-stage strength achieved within the first week after casting, showing how quickly the product gains structural capacity.

38–43 MPa
28 DAY STRENGTH

Full design strength reached after proper curing — the industry benchmark for long-term performance and load-bearing suitability.

In simple terms, these values confirm that the product continues to strengthen over time, reaching a high, reliable level of durability required for paving, structural, and architectural use.

Through the combination of quality raw materials, controlled manufacturing, and rigorous testing, CAPESTONE products deliver reliable, durable, and architecturally consistent solutions for a wide range of built environments.
